Black History Month Event 2014

Heidi Herr and I organized a student-curated exhibit, which was followed by a reception. My colleague, Shannon Simpson, promoted the event to student groups on campus. As part of the Black History Month activities on campus, we planned and coordinated the event in partnership with the Black Student Union on February 21, 2014. Four undergraduate students curated displays related to four different aspects of African American history. The theme of the exhibit was Hidden Histories: the African American Collections at Johns Hopkins University. The main goal was to increase the visibility of and promote the African American materials in Special Collections. More than 60 visitors attended both the exhibit and the reception. It was a huge success!
